Laughlin, the focal point of the Desert Southwest, is barely 90 miles southeast of Las Vegas and merely a few hours from Southern California and Phoenix. Laughlin, Nevada is effortlessly arrived at by plane, bus, or even by car.

Laughlin is to be found in Clark County Nevada, seized from the Arizona Territory through the State of Nevada as division of Lincoln County in 1867. In 1909, Clark County was fashioned via the alienation of Lincoln County. Guest accommodations were accessible in four of the motel's eight-motel rooms. The Laughlin family resided in four other rooms.
The name “South Pointe” was changed into Laughlin when the U.S. Postal Service inspector demanded Don Laughlin to provide the town a name so that the residents could receive mails. Don Laughlin suggested the name of Riverside or Casino; nevertheless, the postal inspector employed Laughlin as an alternative.
In 1967, the second casino, Bobcat Club, was inaugurated in the site where the Golden Nugget Laughlin presently operates. In 1968 the third casino, Monte Carlo started operating.
